We are thinking of putting a wood pellet stove inside our existing open fireplace for better efficiency and I just couldn't picture how it would work with the mantle - thank you for showing me!! :)Lisa Mackayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11551992179195626629noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-709211997505434884.post-87712477230663264742012-11-13T16:31:55.244-05:002012-11-13T16:31:55.244-05:00We uninstalled the woodstove that we had in our ba...We uninstalled the woodstove that we had in our basement. crabigail is right--they do weigh a ton. The process of getting it up the stairs and out of the house involved a very long rope tied to the back of a truck. We have a stone fireplace in the living room upstairs that we are absolutely keeping. It has an unuseable woodstove-like insert right now, but I'm planning to convert it to a traditional open hearth wood burning fireplace. But probably not this winter :( Fortunately, our new geothermal system keeps us nice and warm. I can't imagine doing drywall without heat. Bundle up and good luck!Julia at Home on 129 Acreshttp://homeon129acres.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-709211997505434884.post-1361586011903005482012-11-07T14:35:37.783-05:002012-11-07T14:35:37.783-05:00I love the reclaimed wood one as well. My parents have two (! Yes, it's total overkill, but they love them!) and I kinda want to suggest this idea to them.

I love reclaimed wood, so my vote lands there!
